I have been freedive-spearfishing most of my life. I moved to Northern California and vermillion rockfish require deeper diving. I was looking for a way to safely extend my bottom time (without hyperventilating) below 50’. A friend recommended this program and I am glad they did. It is a practical, easy to follow system that has provided great results for me. Highly recommended.

Hey! My name is Pete and I'm the founder and instructor at HowToFreedive.com. My passion for the ocean world started with scuba diving in the cold waters off the coast of England when I was 13. I soon discovered the beauty of Freediving and in 2014 I reached a personal best breath hold time of 6:42 using this exact training programme.

I believe Freediving is a simple sport that should be accessible to everyone. So I founded HowToFreedive.com to demystify the sport, simplify the learning process and make Freediving accessible for anyone to learn.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I really learn to freedive online?
Sure you can. Whilst this may be an online course, not all of the learning is done online. I have included easy to follow exercises for you to complete both on dry land and in a local swimming pool. These step by step exercises will help you master the essential freediving skills and help prepare you for freediving in the ocean. Don’t just take my word for it though, hundreds of students have started as complete beginners and completed this course as confident freedivers. I have no doubt you will be the same. Plus the great thing about an online course is that you get to learn at your own pace, you can watch the video demonstrations as many times as you like and if you're not happy with the course you can get a refund :)
Is freediving safe?
As a freediver, you are in complete control of your dive. No one can make you go deeper than you want or force you to hold your breath longer than you want. When we train we approach things with baby steps, adding to times and depths slowly so we’re always diving within our experience levels. It can be argued that freediving is a lot safer than scuba diving. With scuba you are totally reliant on high tech equipment. If this equipment fails then the consequences can be deadly. As a freediver you are only reliant on yourself and your buddy.
Does this course enable me to freedive to any depth?
This course is intended as a beginners course to freediving and therefore I strongly recommend to not use the skills you've learnt for deep freediving. If you want to dive to greater depths I would strongly recommend enrolling in an advanced course that takes you to your desired depth. For most recreational freediving, up to 10 meters is more than enough depth... plus it's in shallower water where all the fun is!
When does the course start and finish?
The course starts now and never ends! It is a completely self-paced online course - you decide when you start and when you finish.
How long do I have access to the course?
How does lifetime access sound? After enrolling, you have unlimited access to this course for as long as you like - across any and all devices you own.
What if I am unhappy with the course?
I would never want you to be unhappy! If you are unsatisfied with your purchase, contact me in the first 30 days and I will give you a full refund.
